Kimochi brings a little Japanese flavour to Soi 6 without turning the whole place into Akihabara.

The pink-and-purple styling and Japanese signage give the bar its look, but underneath it’s still a familiar Soi 6 setup: an open frontage, a relatively small team of girls and a social atmosphere built around drinks and conversation. There’s no big stage production here, so most of the night depends on who you end up sitting with and how well the conversation starts flowing.

The name works nicely too - “kimochi” means feeling or mood in Japanese, which is probably as good a description of a bar like this as any.

And if the night goes well, you may even hear the other famous use of “kimochi”.
